JANUARY FAVOURITES

So it’s the end of January and time for my monthly favourites! I would sit tight, get a drink, maybe a snack because this is going to be one very long post!

First of all, my Whistles Black Croc Clutch- I am in love with it (as so many other people seem to be too!) It’s so modest but stylish, it’s my favourite clutch/ going out bag. I’m finding I reach for this for any little thing just because I want to show it off. I also don’t have the heart to shove it always with all of my other bags and therefore leave it on my dressing table to admire. Sad I know, it really is the little things in life.

Now, something you may not know about me is that I’m an absolute book nerd, and a book I’ve been enjoying this month (in between all my other reading) is the new-ish Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy. How can it not be in my favourites! Ever girl I know loves going through the motions with Bridget and reading/ watching (if you’ve only seen the films) how similar some aspects of your life are! Just for me a must read- it’s not a heavy book and its reasonably light hearted, I say reasonably because I have not yet got to grips with the death of SPOILER ALERT Darcy. Why would he die, out of all the characters why him. So shout out to Helen Fielding- I am not a happy bunny!

My next purchase this month was a bright red/orange long sleeve top from Topshop! It was only something like £16 which is great for the amount of wear its had already. It really complements my albino skin tone and it's such a nice change from your normal winter tones ie black.

I’ve only been wearing two colours on my nails throughout January (how boring of me). The first of the two is Essie’s ‘Soul Mate’ which is a favourite of a lot of bloggers. It’s a flat, very dark burgundy colour which is great for this time of year. The second is Rimmel’s 60 Seconds in ‘Little Bo Peep’ which is a light, cold grey colour. I really love the 60 Second brush, it’s so easy to use.  Both of them have great lasting power and are very wearable!

Over the Christmas period I just went scarf crazy, particularly for tartan-looking scarves. The red and green scarf is from Urban Outfitters, its lovely and fits in perfectly with my wardrobe. The second is from Marks and Spencer’s men’s section which I just happened upon when I was Christmas shopping. It’s made from lamb’s wool and I just love it to bits!

My boyfriend bought my Valentina by Valentino for Christmas and it is now my favourite perfume, narrowly overtaking Prada Candy. It has a gorgeous quite sweet and flowery scent to it, and its definitely one to try for those who have a similar taste! The packaging of it is so delicate and girly, the only thing I don't like about it is that it is a push down spray without any sort of lid which makes it difficult to transport.

Finally!! After Eights- I can't get enough of these little treats! I just seem to keep finding them all around the house after receiving them as Christmas presents from people. Unhealthy, I know, but delicious. I don't know a person who doesn't like them.

Now, on to my beauty favourites! I'm not going to lie, there's only two new purchases from this month that have managed to make it into my favourites. I've not seen many new things I wanted to try and with the aftermath of Christmas I've not been able to afford that much either.

My skin has been so dry and dehydrated recently and the Clarins Thirst Quenching Hydrating Balance Mask alongside Hydraluron have made it manageable. There's a lot of hype around Hydraluron so I need not go on, but with the Clarins Mask I feel needs a lot of praise. It a 10 minute mask which is essentially a very thick moisturizer. It has that classic Clarins skincare scent which I think smells quite nice! After I've had it on my skin feels so healthy and rejuvenated it just feels fantastic. If you do struggle with dry patches I would give this a go!

This month I've been dabbling in lipstick a lot more, in particular with Nars 'Red Square' Lip Pencil (which I have done a review for here) and I've gotten back into Mac's 'Rebel' which is a lovely dark purple which looks lovely during winter. I've also been enjoying Mac's 'Feed the Sences' which is a creamy cold-looking nude colour, which is so lovely for day to say. These three have just been worn out this month!

One little thing I bought this month was the Maybellines Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. I've been wearing it everyday since I bought it, and I do think it is great as a primer type product. I wouldn't say it erased my pores but it did make my skin look a lot more flawless. I also splurged on the Eco Tools Big Powder Brush which is the softest brush I have ever felt- it just feels lovely to apply powder with!

For my hair, I have been enjoying Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray which is now just something my fine hair needs! It adds a nice bit of texture without being too much of 'surf'-style.

And finally, my three very old favourites- Mac Eyeshadow in 'All that Glitters', Soap and Glory's 'Glow All Out' and the Clinque 'Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm'. I don't thin I'm ever going to fall out of love with these products, they are just great! 'All that Glitters' is my perfect colour, I wear it pretty much every single day as it can look casual and natural or slightly more dressed up! And to add to my favourite makeup products, the 'Glow All Out' is such an understated glowing powder, its not to heavy and just looks subtly pretty. My Clinique Cleansing Balm is something now I just couldn't live without. I wear a lot of heavy duty eye makeup and it just lifts it off at the end of the day and makes my skin feel nourished!

That's it folks, hope you've enjoyed it! Have you had any worthwhile splurges this January?
